Klondike: The Lost Expedition

Klondike: The Lost Expedition is a free-to-play farming and exploration game set in the Yukon during the Gold Rush, drawing openly on the atmosphere of Jack London's writing. You play a young prospector searching for a father who disappeared on a mining expedition.

The loop alternates between two things. At home you farm crops, raise animals, build production facilities and trade with neighbours. Away from home you load a dog-pulled sled and travel to distant locations to gather resources, complete quests and advance the story.

What separates it from ordinary farming games is that second half. Expeditions bring real logistical constraints: energy to spend, cargo capacity to manage, and dog food to keep the sled moving. Vizor describes the game as having pioneered the expedition genre within farming simulation, and that is a fair claim.

One correction worth making, because it is widely got wrong including in our own earlier copy: Vizor Games is an independent studio, not a Plarium subsidiary. Vizor was founded in 2007, is headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, employs more than 700 people, and has not been acquired. Plarium is one of the platforms the game is distributed through, not its owner.

This matters more than it sounds, and it is the single most common source of confusion about free rewards in this game.

There are effectively two versions. Klondike: The Lost Expedition runs on Facebook, the Vizor Portal and Plarium. Klondike Adventures is the mobile app on iOS and Android. Same world, same studio, different distribution.

Promo codes are documented for Klondike Adventures, the mobile version. Vizor's own support pages describe where to get them and how to redeem them. For Klondike: The Lost Expedition on browser and Facebook, no formal promo code system is documented at all. That version uses freebies instead: direct links that grant rewards when clicked.

So if you play in a browser and cannot find anywhere to enter a code, that is not you missing a menu. There is no code system on your version.

Energy is the resource everything else depends on. Without it you cannot dig, cannot gather, and cannot progress on an expedition.

Regeneration is deliberately slow. Vizor does not publish the rate, but community testing puts it at roughly one energy point every 5 to 10 minutes, and your maximum capacity starts low and grows with progression. That slowness is the friction the game is built around.

Neighbour digging

The most reliable free energy source, and one people under-use: you get 5 free digs per neighbour per day. That is per neighbour, so the size of your neighbour list directly determines how much free energy you can collect daily.

If you take one practical thing from this page, it is that building a large active neighbour list is worth more than any bonus link, because it multiplies a daily allowance rather than paying once.

Other energy sources

• Natural regeneration: Roughly one point every 5 to 10 minutes, up to your current cap.
• Level-up refills: Levelling refills your energy, which is why players time level-ups deliberately.
• Quest rewards: Many quests pay energy directly.
• Official freebie links: Direct links from Vizor that grant rewards when clicked.

The reward picture differs by version, so here is what applies where.

• Freebies: Direct links that grant rewards when clicked, and the main external source for the browser and Facebook version.
• Promo codes: Mobile only. Vizor posts them on the official Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels for Klondike Adventures, and they grant energy, resources, tools and boosters.
• Neighbour digs: 5 per neighbour per day, on every version.
• Level-up refills and quest rewards: In-game, on every version.

One useful detail about mobile code redemption: if the promo link does not work, Vizor provides a second link beneath it. Opening that one lets you type your player ID into a dedicated menu to receive the same gifts. Most people give up at the first broken link without noticing the fallback.

Both freebie links and promo codes are generally one-time use per account. You cannot redeem the same link or code twice, though daily rewards like digs reset normally.

No codes were confirmed active as of the most recent research. Codes do exist for the mobile version, and Vizor does issue them, but they expire and the studio does not publish expiry windows.

You will find old codes circulating. One that appears frequently, 7PCJQY, was posted on Instagram in August 2020 and is long dead. Age is the giveaway: a code from years ago in a game whose support pages tell you to activate promptly is not going to work.

Freebie links behave slightly better. Some expire within days of posting, others last weeks, and direct developer links tend to remain active longer than social posts, though they can be deactivated at any time.

The game runs on Facebook, the Vizor Portal at its own domain, Plarium, iOS and Android. It can be run on a PC through an Android emulator, though Vizor does not officially support that.

One piece of history worth knowing if you are looking for a version that has vanished: in 2024 Vizor ended business partnerships with several publishing partners, and the game became unavailable on Plinga, Agame and MyGameSet as of 10 July 2024. Vizor stated explicitly at the time that there were no plans to discontinue it on Facebook, the Vizor Portal or Plarium.

So if your Klondike disappeared, check which portal you were playing on. The game itself is very much alive.

In-app purchases go up to $99.99, which is lower than several comparable titles.

Diggy's Adventure is the nearest comparison for how the energy gate feels day to day. What Klondike has that the others do not is the expedition layer, where cargo capacity and dog food turn a farming game into a logistics one.
