Scatter HoldEm Poker, listed on the stores as Texas Holdem Poker & Blackjack, is a free-to-play social poker game that layers a fantasy adventure map over standard Texas Hold'em.

The poker itself is orthodox. Blinds, two hole cards, four betting rounds, five community cards, best five-card hand wins. The game helpfully highlights winning combinations, which makes it unusually friendly to people still learning hand rankings.

What sits on top is the difference. Rather than only grinding chips, you work through missions on a world map: win a set number of hands, hit a flush, play at a given stake. Completing a mission unlocks the next level, and the map runs through themed worlds populated by fantasy characters.

There is also a Free Mode for classic five-player Hold'em with custom rules and no mission constraints, plus Blackjack and a small casino slots diversion between hands.

This is the game's signature mechanic and the thing most write-ups of it, including our own earlier one, reduce to the phrase hourly bonus.

Rather than handing you a fixed pile of chips on a timer, Scatter deals you ten hands of Video Poker and your bonus is the total you win across them. So the amount varies with how those hands fall.

The important part is that the Video Poker paytable is upgradeable over time. The same ten hands pay progressively more as you improve it, which means the hourly bonus is a compounding asset rather than a fixed drip. Upgrading it is one of the better long-term investments in the game.

Scatter has no energy bar. This timer is the gate, and Gems will skip the countdown if you would rather not wait, which is the game's main time-versus-money lever.

The ownership chain

Worth setting out because it has changed twice. Blackstone acquired a majority stake in March 2019, which funded a significant scaling phase: more events, deeper VIP systems, and reach into more than 200 countries at around 5 million monthly active users.

In 2026 Murka moved again, into a management-led buyout backed by MGG Investment Group. The company framed it as buying back creative autonomy. For players, the relevant point is continuity: the existing team stayed, and the game is still being updated.

• Chips: The play currency. You start with an advertised 60,000,000 and stake them at tables.
• Gems: The premium currency, also called rubies, jewels or crystals. Used to skip the Video Poker countdown, unlock worlds in Free Mode, and exchange for elixirs.
• Elixirs: Consumables giving a 5% advantage at tables during missions. Useful for clearing a mission that keeps stalling.
• Status Points, or Shields: A progression metric earned by completing levels and by purchases, setting your status tier.
• Scrolls: A further collectible in the progression economy.

One correction worth making explicitly: elixirs are a mission advantage you use at the table, not a friend-assist item. Our earlier description of them was wrong.

Separately, spells are the social layer rather than a currency. You cast things like pizzas and snowballs at other players as emotes, which is a light RPG flourish uncommon in poker apps.

Seven VIP tiers run from Bronze to King. You earn VIP points by playing hands, completing missions and buying chip packs.

The perk worth knowing about is Hand Meter Pro, which displays your hand probability live during play at higher tiers. That is a genuine informational advantage over players who do not have it, and it changes how the table plays rather than simply paying more.

Higher tiers also unlock expanded chat, including type-chat rather than only preset messages, plus extra missions and in some cases dedicated support.

Your Shield status carries across Murka's wider ecosystem, so progress here counts toward benefits in the studio's other games as well.

In the long tail, players focus on climbing VIP and status, repeatedly clearing High Roller Club mission sets, and playing Scatter Link and seasonal events for jackpots and large chip payouts.

A parallel endgame track: a dedicated high-stakes tournament-style environment, with auto top-off and auto-rebuy so you are not manually topping up between hands.

It carries its own mission sets with their own rewards, which makes it a repeatable source of large chip payouts rather than a one-off unlock.

Be realistic about the stakes involved. The same features that make it convenient, particularly auto-rebuy, will move through a chip balance quickly if a session goes badly.

No. There is no real-money wagering and no cash-out. Chips are virtual, have no value outside the game, and cannot be exchanged for money.

The rake, which surprises people

Scatter includes a rake, taking a cut of pots the way a real cardroom does, to simulate casino dynamics. Murka acknowledges this in its help documentation but does not publish the percentage. Real-money poker typically rakes 3 to 5% with caps; Scatter's actual figure is not verifiable.

It matters because a rake is a slow drain on the table's total chips, which is part of why chip balances erode over a long session even when you are playing competently.

On the fairness complaints

Reviews for this game regularly allege scripted bad beats, or hand distributions that favour spenders or new players. Murka states hands are dealt randomly. No independent testing exists either way, and the same allegation appears against essentially every social poker app, so the honest position is that it is a widespread player perception rather than a documented finding.

The game runs on iOS, requiring iOS 12 or later and working on iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon Macs, on Android, and on Windows through the Microsoft Store. The download is roughly 236 to 257 MB depending on version.

It is not playable on Facebook. Murka runs an official Facebook page that posts chip links and event news, and Facebook Connect is used to sync progress, but the game itself is not played there.

That sync point is the practical one: connect Facebook in Settings and your progress is saved and restorable across devices and reinstalls. Cross-save outside Facebook, such as Apple ID to Google Play, is not documented, so if you play on more than one device, Facebook Connect is effectively required.

The comparisons split between other poker games and Murka's own slots portfolio, which shares the studio's Status system.

For pure poker, Zynga Poker and WSOP are bigger and more conventional. Scatter's argument is the meta-game: the mission map, the upgradeable Video Poker bonus and the fantasy layer make it a better fit if you find open-ended cash tables aimless.
